Pottery Section
Imparting training to 16 students for making of Pots, Decorative planters and simple planters by analyzing the skills hierarchically. Simple, repetitive, semiskilled and skilled tasks are taught. Transfer of skills from basic skills to different new patterns. Opted new technique for making pots that is Mould system so that every child can work despite of their disability. Duration of learning the skills may be longer due to limitations in communication, low intelligence and Limb movement. Teaching underpinning knowledge and inculcate appropriate work Behaviours. Enabling the students to acquire pottery related skills, related functional knowledge and soft skills/work Behaviour for independent living.
After teaching 21 students enrolled in a class , identification , advance skills , packaging skills , they are trained to grind the products like Haldi powder , Garam Masala, Dhaniya powder, Jeera powder , Lal Mirch powder , Kali Mirch powder and gram flour. Besides, knowledge regarding skills related to hygiene , cleaning and sorting are also given.
There are 21 students enrolled in the class who are trained in making candles of different shapes, sizes and designs using high quality materials under no profit no loss basis. The students are also trained in Recanning garden, steel and simple chairs independently with different patterns like the basic tana-bana pattern on chairs.
There are 14 children enrolled in a class . They are taught identification of tools and Equipments used in carpentry ,Simulataneously introducing them to safety skills and measures which includes protective clothing, boots, goggles and Equipments and teaching store and lay material at work and produce simple products like Bench, Mandir making and many more.
Students are taught skills related to book binding like: arranging of papers, punching of papers, organizing the papers, stitching and binding the books . They receive the assignments from Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector-32, Chandigarh and GRIID library for binding the books . Presently, 10 students are enrolled in a class. Students from this section had been placed at different libraries in Chandigarh.
With 14 students in a class,they are taught how to make wood free handmade paper sheets through non-polluting, eco-friendly process using waste cotton rags and waste paper with no chemical induction in process.. Students are taught various skills like Moulding, pressing, drying, creasing of the sheet. Students have been placed in Umeed and gift shop.
Target is to make 18 girls that are enrolled in class financially and socially independent . They learn the skill of cutting, tailoring, needle work, embroidery, fabric painting and other craft items. Some have been placed in boutiques and some students are working under the supervision of their parents. Our aim is to rehabilitate them by appropriate training and make them independent
Target is to make 19 girls enrolled in a class self-dependent after getting sufficient knowledge in domestic and commercial production of food articles and make them capable to lend a helping hand to their mothers at home and offer their services to general public.Some girl students are placed in different Umeed kiosks The students are introduced to different food items their nutritive value and each equipment used for cooking.
The art of making decorative hand made items such as necklaces , earrings and sets are taught to students in jewellery making section. In this section, students are taught basics and innovative ways to make handmade jewellery through threading the needle , beading, knotting, use of tools like pliers etc. Labelling and packing are also taught to the students under guidance and proper supervision . Different types of necklaces are made for made for festivals like Diwali, Karwa Chauth, Rakhi. Productivity of items is increased according to demands in workshops and exhibitions.
