School is a temple of education and special school is for the education, grooming, vocational training and rehabilitation of special children. Government rehabilitation institute for intellectual disabilities (GRIID) is one of premier institutes in the country particularly in northern India, working in the areas of intellectual disabilities (IDs), autism, cerebral palsy and multiple disabilities since more than 26 years. Currently, GRIID school has 490 children in different sections. Education section of GRIID has pre-vocational sections, secondary sections, care groups, primary sections, autism section, dance and music section etc. Vocational section has masala grinding section, carpentry section, pottery section, candle making, paper recycling, cutting and tailoring, cooking and bakery, jewellery making section etc. More than 100 students trained in school have been placed in various private sector, NGO and are self employed which shows the hidden potential in these children and dedicated efforts of special educators and staff of GRIID toidentify the particular talent in every student, refined it further and polished.
The Child Development Clinic (CDC) of GRIID provides medical facilities to children with Intellectual Disability, Autism, Cerebral Palsy and Multiple Disabilities and more than 13000 children have availed the services.
GRIID College is a recognized training centre by Rehabilitation council of India (RCI) for human resource development (HRD) by imparting D.Ed, B.Ed and M.Ed courses in special education (ID). Students from all over the country are being trained at GRIID college and working at various public and private sectors. GRIID college has organized many National Workshops and training programs. GRIID publishes biannual journal by the name of Journal of disability management and rehabilitation (JDMR)
